Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park
Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park is a national park in Sagaing Division, Burma (Myanmar). The park consists of the Patolon Reserved Forest and the adjoining Taungdwin Reserved Forest. It is ASEAN heritage site, 616.84 sq mile in size with a well forested mountainous area and well known for its wealth of biological diversity and also an ideal place for bird watchers and nature lovers. Recommended period for visiting and birding is from November to May. In this site we can be found the various woodpeckers. That’s why we called woodpecker land.
Bird species which can be seen mostly:
Day 1: Yangon – Monywa – Alaongdawkassapa by car
After breakfast, our English speaking bird guide will meet you at the hotel and transfer you to the Yangon domestic airport for Mandalay flight. On arriving Mandalay, we will take our private car to Alaongdawkassapa for Woodpecker expectation. Upon arrival, we do check-in at the guest house at the base camp and take rest. Stay overnight at the guest house in Alaungdawkassapa.
Day 2 & 3: Alaongdawkassapa birding (The whole day) by car and trekking
After breakfast, we move to the birding site in the evergreen rain forest by trekking or riding elephant to find various Woodpeckers. After the whole day birding, we return back to the guest house and take rest. Stay overnight at the guest house in Alaungdawkassapa.
Day 4: Alaungdawkassapa – Monywa – Yangon by car
After breakfast, we do check-out and return. Along the way back to Mandalay, we can do birding for a moment if time allowed. According to our flight time, we will take flight to Yangon. Then, we transfer you to the hotel or wait for your departure flight.
