National Races Village

National Races Village is one of the best birding spots near in Yangon for some kinds of different species. It is located in near Thanlyin Bridge, Thaketa Township, Yangon. If you visit the village, you will not only enjoy fresh breeze blowing across Bago River and nice for birding along the mangrove forest but also get the sense of Union Spirit from the village of our national brethren. Myanmar is a union of 135 ethnic groups with their own languages and dialects. The major races are the Kachin that comprises 12 different ethnic groups, Kayah that comprises 9 different ethnic groups, Kayin that comprises 11 different ethnic groups, Chin that comprises 53 different ethnic groups, Bamar that comprises 9 different ethnic groups, Mon that comprises one ethnic group, Rakhine that comprises 7 different ethnic groups, Shan that comprises 33 different ethnic groups. You can see buildings with significant symbols denoting various national races residing in the country.

Bird Species which can be seen;

In there we will be able to see Myanmar endemic White-throated Babbler, Black-crowned Night-heron, Chinese Pond-heron, Eastern Cattle , Great and Little Egrets, Little Cormorant, Oriental Honey-buzzard, Black -shouldered Kite,Brahminy Kite, Black Kite, White-breasted Waterhen, Common Moorhen, Red Collared-dove, Blossom-headed and Red-breasted Parakeets, Plaintive Cuckoo, Asian Koel, Green-billed Malkoha, Greater and Lesser Coucals, White-throated and Common Kingfishers, Little Green and Chestnut-headed Bee-eaters, Coppersmith Barbet, Black-naped Oriole, Common Iora, White-throated Fantail, Black , Ashy and Hair-crested Drongos, Black-nape Monarch, Olive-backed and Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Scaly-breasted Munia, Olive-backed Pipit, Forest and White Wagtails, Vinous-breasted Myna, White-rumped Shama, Oriental Magpie-robin, Black-crested , Red-whiskered and Red-vented Bulbuls, Oriental White-eye, Plain Prinia and many more.
